Narrative
WELD COUNTY, CO – A train struck the back of a family car on Weld County Road 88, resulting in the death of a 4-year-old boy and injuring another boy and a married couple Saturday. This collision was reported after 10 a.m. The Denver Gazette said the woman driving a car hit some snow and ice and could not stop. As a result, the train hit the vehicle. There was no safety gate and lights to mark the railway tracks. Details indicated that the family was on the way to the store before it happened. Colorado State Patrol confirmed speed and impairment did not play a role in this crash. The husband and wife sustained unspecified wounds, and the other boy suffered a “cracked vertebrae and bleeding on his brain” and was taken to Children’s Hospital Colorado. It is unclear whether the four-year-old boy died at the scene or succumbed to fatal wounds at a hospital.
