Narrative
GRAND JUNCTION, CO – One person died, and two others sustained critical injuries Tuesday in a solo crash in central Mesa County.
The accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of North Avenue, or US-6, and the business loop of I-70. This is just east of Grand Junction Memorial Gardens.
Police say that the driver may have been impaired when they lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a light pole. The force of the collision caused the vehicle to catch fire.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased.
Medics transported two others to the hospital with significant injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
